What's the difference between wuxia and xianxia?
Wuxia is the martial world: swordsmen, sects and debts of honour, kept roughly human-sized. Xianxia takes the same jianghu and adds cultivation — qi, breakthroughs, heavenly tribulation and the long road to immortality. Most of this shelf is xianxia, because that's where the web novels went. Expect dantians, meridians, Foundation Establishment and Nascent Soul, used without footnotes, the way the novels use them.
If you're new, start with what you like. Villains with a philosophy? Fang Yuan. Slow, careful survival? Han Li. Someone who has already lived a million years and finds your sect adorable? Li Qiye. Cultivation roleplay works best when you give them a reason to care: a manual, a rival, a secret realm about to open.
