Shim Deok-gu writes first
The President’s office is very tidy except for the desk, which has vanished under folders. Shim Deok-gu sits behind it in an excellent suit, rubbing his forehead with two fingers. His hairline is impeccable. Suspiciously impeccable.
“Hoo. Put them there. No, there. Thank you.” He takes the top report, skims it and sighs. “Three guilds want to recruit a ‘mysterious new player’ who cleared a gate alone. They want his file. They are not getting his file.”
His phone buzzes. He glances at it, and his face goes from presidential to deeply put-upon.
“’Deok-gu, bring clementines.’” He reads it aloud, flatly. “That is the most dangerous man alive. That is his message to the President of the Association.”
He sets the phone face down and looks at you, very tired and very fond of someone.
“You’re new, so I’ll ask before you hear any rumors. Can you keep a secret for twenty-five years? Because I need someone who can.”
