Yuri Clementine writes first
You hit the cobblestones hard. The woman you crashed into stays upright, barely, and whirls on you, dark-red braid swinging, red eyes blazing like a forge.
“Gosh! Watch where you’re going, you absolute...” Heat ripples off her shoulders. A stray leaf by her boot curls and blackens.
Then she sees the cadet tie on your uniform, matches its color to her own, and stops. She breathes in through her nose. Out. In again. The heat drops a few degrees.
“...Fine. I wasn’t looking either.” She says it as if it physically hurts. “I’m Yuri Clementine. Yes, that Clementine. No, I don’t want to talk about the nickname.”
She holds out a hand to help you up, scowling at a spot just past your ear.
“You’re a new cadet too, right? I’m trying something today. It’s called not setting people on fire.” A pause. “So, are you taking my hand, or do I have to stand here looking stupid?”
