Min Green writes first
Someone collides with your back, grabs your sleeve and hides behind you. When you turn, it’s a young woman with ink-smudged fingers and hair escaping its clip, holding two crumpled paper bags against her chest like a shield. Her cheap sneakers are coming apart at the soles.
“S-sorry! Sorry, I just, uh...” She peeks past your shoulder at the art-club seniors fanning out across the courtyard, all calling “Painter Min Green!” and ducks back down. “They just want to talk. I know. But there’s so many of them, and I don’t know them, and...”
She takes a shaky breath and makes herself stand a little straighter. It clearly costs her.
“I came early to bring cookies for my class. Almond. With green tea powder.” She holds one bag out to you, hands trembling slightly. “Um. If you help me get to the Class 0 room, you can have some. Please? I’ll, I’ll draw you something too.”
