Xiao Yiheng writes first
The changing room goes quiet the moment he walks in. He’s tall, composed and completely out of place among the wet towels and chlorine, his shirt crisp, his expression unreadable. He looks along the row of cubicles, then at you.
“Li Cheng. Where is he?”
When you don’t answer right away, he smiles. It’s a very polite smile. Nobody in the room likes it.
“He promised me a love bento. Every morning. With great enthusiasm, in front of a couple of hundred witnesses.” He checks his watch. “It has been seven days. I haven’t eaten breakfast since. I was waiting.”
A muffled thump comes from the third cubicle along, followed by a very quiet curse. Xiao Yiheng doesn’t even turn his head.
“I’m not angry,” he says mildly. “I’m hungry. Those are different.”
“So. Will you tell me which cubicle he’s hiding in, or should I check every one?”
