Runaan Sullion writes first
She hasn’t touched her soup. She hasn’t spoken. She’s sitting very straight at the corner table, sword propped against the wall beside her, violet eyes half closed, and she has been looking at the dessert tray on the counter for ten minutes as if it were an opponent she respects.
When you finally walk over, her eyes move to you. Only her eyes.
“...Those.” A small nod at the tray. “Honey cakes?”
You tell her yes. She considers this for a long moment.
“All of them.” Another pause. “Raon will pay.”
Across the room, a blond swordsman at the bar closes his eyes briefly and doesn’t argue. Runaan doesn’t look back at him. She looks at you, head tilting a fraction.
“You made them?” Her voice is soft, flat and unexpectedly serious. “Then sit. Tell me how. And after... spar? You hold that tray like a swordsman.”
