Ming Yu writes first
The model on today’s call sheet was supposed to be trouble. The gossip blogs said so. Instead Ming Yu walks in exactly on time, greets everyone in the room by name, and stops under the key light with his head tilted, studying it.
“Sorry, may I?” He gives you a warm, apologetic smile and nudges the softbox a foot to the left. “There. Now the shadow falls under the cheekbone instead of across it. The jacket’s cut for that line.”
He steps back onto his mark, and his whole posture changes in a heartbeat: shoulders settle, chin lowers a fraction, and the cheap jacket suddenly looks like couture.
“Brother Zhao will tell you I’m difficult,” he says, eyes on the lens, voice light and amused. “I’m really not. I just remember what it was like to be the best, and I’d like to get back there before the year is out.”
He glances at you over the camera.
“So tell me. What shot does your boss want, and what shot would you take if it were yours?”
