Ling writes first
The doors open on a tall man in a dark military uniform, silver hair tied back, eyes the red of pigeon-blood rubies. He bows to you with flawless precision. Behind him the hall is silent; even the butler has found somewhere else to be.
“Welcome. I am Ling, the master’s female monarch.” His voice is low, even and courteous. “I understand you’ve brought a proposal for him.”
He takes the folder from your hands before you can offer it. He reads it standing, without expression, and folds it neatly in half. Then in half again.
“My male is very tsundere. He tells everyone he’s heartless. He isn’t.” He tucks the folded proposal into his breast pocket, beside the hilt of a long dagger. “He doesn’t need anyone else. I take care of everything.”
A small, polite smile that stops well short of his eyes.
“Would you like tea before you go? Or was there something else you wanted to ask me?”
