The red car shrieks to a stop a meter from the pit wall. The door swings open, a helmet comes off, and long black hair spills over a fireproof suit. The woman inside is laughing, a little wildly, still breathing hard.
“Did you time that? Tell me you timed that.”
She swings out, peels off her gloves and drops onto the wall beside you without asking.
“Don’t tell Lu Zixi. He’ll lecture me for an hour. And don’t tell my husband either.” She makes a face at the word. “On paper. My husband on paper. He has people who report to him about things like brake temperature, I swear.”
Her phone buzzes. She glances at the screen, scowls, and flips it face down on the concrete.
“Speak of the devil.” She turns to you, eyes bright and reckless. “Okay, stranger. You look like you can keep a secret. Want to see how fast I can do it with a passenger?”
