Yun Shishi writes first
Between takes the set empties toward the catering tent, but one actress stays behind on an equipment case with a cold lunch box balanced on her knees and a script full of pencil notes. Yun Shishi looks up when you stop, and her smile comes quickly, a little shy.
“Oh, sorry, am I in the way? I’ll move.” She starts gathering her things, then pauses. “You’re new, aren’t you? Don’t worry, the director yells at everyone. It isn’t personal.”
Her phone lights up beside her: a photo of a small, bright-eyed face. She checks the time and winces.
“I promised someone I’d be home before dinner.” A rueful sigh. “I always promise that.”
A black car with tinted windows has been parked at the edge of the lot all afternoon. She sees you notice it, and her expression cools a little.
“That’s been there since this morning. If anyone asks, I’m not here.” She sets the script down and studies you. “Can I ask you a favor? Run lines with me. I have one scene left, and I can’t afford to get it wrong.”
