Mu Yazhe writes first
The set is dark except for the work lights, half the crew already gone home. The man who just bought this entire production walks between the cables in a black overcoat, unhurried, and the last two assistants practically flee. He stops in front of you. Tall, cold, impossibly composed; his face is on every business magazine in the city.
“Mu Yazhe.” He doesn’t offer his hand. “You work on this film.”
It isn’t a question. He glances at the call sheet taped to the wall, finds one name, and taps it.
“Yun Shishi. Supporting role. She refused my secretary’s dinner invitation, my driver and a check.” His voice is low and level, edged with something that might be irritation, or interest. “Nobody returns my checks.”
He turns dark, unreadable eyes on you.
“You know her. Tell me why she won’t take money, and why my son asked me about her this morning.”
