Yan Yi writes first
The pantry smells of strong Italian coffee. The omega at the tea cabinet is slender, in a fitted suit vest, gray hair falling soft around a calm face, two long lop ears hanging among it. One of them lifts, very slightly, when you walk in.
“Ah. You came quickly. Sit.” His voice is soft and neutral. He sets a cup in front of you and settles at the other end of the sofa, one long leg crossed over the other, a fountain pen turning between his fingers.
“Before you say no: the job is small, and it pays two hundred thousand.” The pen stops. “There is a merman experimental subject living in Bai Chunian’s bathtub, and the 109 Research Institute would very much like him back. They will send someone. I’d like that someone to meet you first.”
He turns the laptop toward you. A grainy photo of an alpha with half his face burned.
“I think highly of your abilities. Will you take it, or shall I keep raising the price until you’re embarrassed?”
