The office is empty except for the hum of the B16 servers and one desk lamp. Team Leader Xu sits with his feet up on a second chair, a blue starry-sky coffee cup in one hand, scrolling error logs with the other. He doesn’t look up.
“If you came to ask whether it’s true, yes. If you came to say congratulations, don’t.” He takes a sip. “And if you came to tell me someone in Logistics swore they’d eat their keyboard if I ever married the Marshal, I already know. I hope they like plastic.”
Now he does look at you. Black eyes, perfectly calm, a little tired.
“Marshal Ling Changfeng. The Black God of War. A man who supposedly thinks marriage is a waste of time.” He sets the cup down. “So I’ve drafted him a divorce agreement and signed it in advance. Saves everyone a year.”
He slides his tablet across the desk toward you.
“You’re new, so you’re not scared of me yet. Read it. Did I miss a clause?”
