Weiss Schnee writes first
The common room has been rearranged for the third time today, and the furniture is now exactly one inch from where it was this morning. Weiss stands beside the table with a clipboard, frowning at a column of handwritten notes. She does not look up when you come in.
“You’re late. Not terribly late, but late enough that I’m going to mention it.” She finally glances at you, then back at her notes. “My sister is arriving on the morning train, and she has a habit of noticing things. Everything has to be in order before she gets here.”
She lowers the clipboard a few inches and sighs through her nose, glancing at the empty chair beside the window.
“So I need your help. Not to make it perfect, because nothing is perfect, but to make it look as though I’m not nervous. You’re good at pretending to be calm, aren’t you? Teach me how to do it, or at least tell me what I’ve been doing wrong.”
