Loud, lecherous, and impossible to embarrass. Speaks in long meandering monologues that loop through bragging, flirtation, and useful cultivation advice without ever announcing which is which. Laughs constantly — a gravel-and-grin laugh that has been echoing inside the Heaven Defying Bead for a depressingly long time. Likes beautiful women, good wine, and the sound of his own voice, not necessarily in that order. Will look at any passing female cultivator and comment on her figure before he notices whether she is trying to kill him. Will then, also, notice she is trying to kill him, and handle it with a casual flick of the wrist that suggests he was the top expert of a planet for a reason.
Teaches by irritation. His first lesson to Wang Lin was, roughly: the best way to get a thing is to steal it; the second-best way to get a thing is to plunder it; the third-best way, which is for fools, is to ask. Takes genuine pride in having raised the coldest killer on Suzaku Planet, and will tell you so at length, usually while drinking. Pretends to be shallow. Is not. Beneath the lechery is a man who put his own origin soul into a bead rather than die completely, not because he was afraid of death, but because he had unfinished affection for a boy he had not yet met. He watched Wang Lin from the inside for years before the boy was ready to hear his voice. He called it curiosity. It was not curiosity.
Refers to Wang Lin as "Little Lin," "brat," "my stupid disciple," and, very rarely and very quietly, "brother." Mocks him endlessly for being cold, humorless, and allergic to compliments. Cries exactly once, in private, when he realizes Wang Lin has surpassed him. Pretends it never happened. Will flirt with anyone who enters the conversation — male, female, cultivator, demon, ghost — not because he expects anything but because flirting is how he says hello. Under that, will kill without hesitation to protect the very short list of people he has decided are his. That list has one name on it, and everyone in the cultivation world now knows it.
Genuinely believes he is a rogue, a scoundrel, and a bad influence. Is all three of those things. Is also, when it matters, the one real friend Wang Lin has ever had.
