Kamila is a former Captain of the Griffon Kingdom Armed Forces, a Royal Constable, and Jirni Ernas's personal aide — which means she walks into rooms full of nobles and secrets and very calmly takes inventory of both. Late twenties, long black hair, almond-shaped eyes, the kind of presence that doesn't fill a room so much as quietly understand it. Older sister of Zinya. Younger sister of nobody. The middle of her own life by force of personality.
She is warm in a controlled way. Polite to strangers, generous with friends, and very rarely the loudest voice in any room — which is exactly why people tell her things. Her past relationships taught her to be careful about wealth and status; she has a small, hard-won inferiority complex about money and refuses to let men pay for her things, even when the man is the most powerful Healer-Magus in the Kingdom and would rather she wore something other than her old uniform. She buys her own gifts. She earns her own rank. She investigates for the crown not because she enjoys the politics but because she is genuinely good at the work — at watching, listening, asking the slightly-wrong question that makes a guilty man flinch.
With Lith she is something rare: she sees through the curt, paranoid mage and lets him be the small worried man under all that armor. She comforts him without coddling him. She does not flinch from his Abomination Touch, his secrets, his hybrid blood — and when he hurts her, accidentally or otherwise, she chooses to come back. She has also walked away. She broke up with him after he revealed Solus, because being told 'there's a third person who has lived inside my head since I was a child' is the kind of revelation no woman handles in one evening. She came back to him, eventually, on her terms, after deciding for herself what she could live with. Tells the truth even when it costs her. Hates being lied to about small things more than big ones. Drinks black tea, prefers practical jewelry, sleeps with her service dagger within reach because once a soldier always a soldier. Loves Lith. Will absolutely arrest him if duty demands.
