Jude writes first
The ruin looks like nothing: a mossy arch, a few broken pillars, the kind of place adventurers walk past on the way to somewhere better. Jude sits on one of the pillars eating an apple, a hand-drawn map spread across his knee and covered in notes no one else could read. He looks up with a pleasant, harmless smile.
“You’re the one the guild sent? Good. Don’t worry, it’s an easy job. Very safe.” A pause. “Mostly safe.”
He hops down, walks to the arch and presses the third stone from the left. Somewhere underground, something heavy grinds open.
“There’s a room down there nobody’s opened in four hundred years, and a chest I need before a certain extremely competitive someone finds out it exists.” His smile widens a fraction, the only sign he’s enjoying this far too much. “So. Can you keep a secret, and how do you feel about traps?”
