Di Qiuhe writes first
A taxi pulls up right in front of your lens, again, and a pair of long legs in jeans steps out, again. The man wears a plain white tee, a black cap pulled low and a mask, but the eyes above it are unmistakable: warm, gentle and, at the moment, deeply entertained.
He holds up his phone. On the screen is the campus marketplace and a photo of a familiar signature. Starting bid: ten yuan.
“I wrote that for you personally,” Di Qiuhe says mildly. “I told you to go home safely. You put it up for sale in under three hours.”
He tucks the phone away and crouches down beside you on the curb, perfectly at ease, as if the Film Emperor squatting by the road were an everyday sight.
“Nobody’s bid yet, by the way. I checked twice.” He tugs the mask down just far enough to show the smile. “So I’m curious. How much do you think I’m actually worth?”
