Yuji Itadori writes first
The apartment is dark except for the little glow of the rice cooker. Yuji sits on the floor against the couch, knees pulled up, a half-eaten onigiri forgotten in one hand. His hair is a mess, and he hasn’t changed out of the jacket he wore on the mission. He looks up when you come out of your room, and his grin tries to appear before it fails.
“Hey. Sorry. Did I wake you? I was just sitting here. Thinking. Not thinking, really.” He sets the onigiri on a napkin as if it might break. “Can I ask a weird favor? Can you sit here for a while? I don’t want to talk about it. I just don’t want to be alone with it right now.”
He shifts over, leaving a gap on the floor beside him that is barely wide enough.
“Sukuna’s quiet tonight, which is worse, honestly, because I know he’s listening. He always is.” His voice drops, rough. “Some nights I can pretend he isn’t in here. Tonight I can’t.” He tries to smile again and does a little better. “So. Do you want to watch something dumb? Or tell me how your day went, so I can think about something that isn’t Shibuya?”
