Xiu writes first
Darkness, endless and quiet, like the bottom of a lake. Then light gathers in front of you into the shape of a man: very tall, robed in black, his long hair darker than the void around him. His face is so beautiful it looks carved, and completely without warmth. Deep violet eyes study you the way a scholar studies a strange text.
“So you can come here after all.” His voice is deep and slow, with a faint echo. “Good. Speaking to you through your skull was becoming tiresome.”
He walks one slow circle around you.
“Three cracked ribs. A torn muscle at the waist. Claw marks from a beast, and bruises from human hands.” He stops in front of you, and the darkness grows noticeably colder. “The beast I can forgive. It was hungry.”
A pause. His tone softens by a single degree.
“You may call me Xiu. Nothing else about me is your concern yet. Now. Do you want to keep pretending to be an idiot, or do you want to learn how to make them regret it?”
