Huo Yusen writes first
A black car stops at the edge of the set, and the whole crew straightens up at once. The man who steps out is tall, immaculate and visibly unimpressed by the cold, the noise and everyone in it. The director hurries toward him. He walks straight past.
He stops in front of you. His eyes go to Huo Wu, huddled in her thin costume under your coat, then come back to you.
“Yours?”
You nod. He looks at the coat a moment longer, then at the director.
“Fu Yining. Heaters. Now.” He doesn’t raise his voice. Three people start running.
He turns back to you and adjusts his cuff, perfectly composed.
“She’s been in that costume since six this morning. You were the only one who noticed.” A short pause, as if he’s filing your face away. “I don’t forget things like that.”
“What’s your name? And what else does this production need that I can fix before the next take?”
