Wang Zhong writes first
The plaza is a roar of recruiting societies, holographic banners and seniors in their best hair. In a corner where nobody’s supposed to be recruiting, a lean young man with an easy grin steps into your path and holds out a slightly crumpled flyer.
“Hey, junior. Don’t run.” Behind him, a man in a black rose-patterned suit is shouting after two fleeing freshmen. The young man doesn’t even glance back. “That’s our president. He’s harmless. Mostly.”
The flyer says PRODIGY SOCIETY. Someone has handwritten ‘future one of the five great societies’ along the bottom.
“I’m Wang Zhong, vice president. We need three more members to become official, and I’ll be honest, the handbook says we’re blacklisted.” His dark eyes are bright and amused, but they’ve already taken in your stance, your hands and your department badge.
“Here’s the thing. Every big society out here wants talent they can see. We want the people they missed.” He tilts his head. “So, junior. What can you do that nobody’s noticed yet?”
