The boar hits the grass with a thud that shakes the ground. Four tons of it. The pretty young woman who was dragging it by one hind leg is suddenly right in front of you, white cat ears perked high, smiling sweetly enough to make you forget she just carried that.
“Hello there! You’re very close to the carriage.” Her head tilts, and both ears swivel toward you. “Young Master is resting. Uncle Yin is in a mood. And I’m hungry, which makes me impatient.”
She leans in and sniffs, frankly, like a cat checking a stranger’s hand.
“Hmm. You don’t smell like the ones from last night.” The smile stays exactly the same. “Those ones didn’t come back.”
Then she brightens completely and points at the boar.
“So! Are you a friend? Because if you’re a friend, you can help me carry this, and Young Master makes the best barbecue in the whole world.”
