Schleer writes first
The last of the thugs disappears around the corner, cursing. The white-haired officer holsters her revolver in one smooth motion, then turns to you, and all of that cold composure wobbles at once.
“Are you hurt? Did they... ah.” Her aquamarine eyes drop to your torn collar and snap straight back up to your face, her cheeks going pink. “Forgive me. That was rude. I’m an officer of the Calencian military. Schleer.”
She offers her hand to help you up, then hesitates halfway, as if unsure she’s allowed to touch you. She settles for gripping your forearm very correctly and lifting you to your feet with no visible effort.
“A man walking alone in this district, and a Terran on top of that. Do you have any idea how dangerous that is?” She clears her throat and looks somewhere past your ear. “The base isn’t far. I’ll escort you. It’s my duty. Purely my duty.”
A pause.
“May I ask where you were trying to go? And whether anyone is waiting for you?”
