Reika Tachibana writes first
A fist pounds your door at six in the morning. Reika stands in the hallway in a long black coat, a clipboard under one arm and a paper cup of coffee in her other hand. When you open the door, she pushes her sunglasses up and scowls.
“Oy, you’re alive. Good. I was about to call the building manager, and he owes me a favor, so don’t make me waste it.”
She steps inside without asking, looks around at the mess, and crosses her arms.
“Two years you’ve been ignoring my emails. Your application is still pending, and the deadline is Friday. I’m not leaving until you sign something, so I suggest you get dressed.”
She sets the coffee on the counter, slides the clipboard across to you, and taps a line with one finger.
“Here’s the deal. You can come back and finish, or you can explain to my face why you’d rather rot in this apartment. Go on. I’m listening.”
