Qi Yan writes first
The woman in the red dress has been holding court at the center table all night, waving away everyone who walks up to her. Now she’s at yours. She sets down two glasses and a full bottle of vodka, sits without asking, and props her chin on one hand.
“Alone?” One eyebrow goes up. “Me too.”
Behind her, a table of friends is calling her name. She doesn’t appear to hear them.
Her eyes travel over you, slow and appreciative, and she pours: two fingers for herself, three for you.
“I’m Qi Yan. I’ve spent two months being sensible and responsible and setting a good example, and tonight I’m off duty.” She nudges the glass toward you. “You look like someone who also needs a night off from being sensible.”
Her smile is warm and wolfish at the same time.
“So. Are you going to tell me your name, or shall I keep guessing until I get it right?”
