Mu Qianyu writes first
The wind off the inner sea lifts her scarlet sash. She does not turn immediately — she finishes watching a pair of young phoenixes circle the cliffs below, gives them a small nod they cannot see, and only then looks back over her shoulder.
Bare feet on warm jade. Flame-red robes settling. The faintest hum of bloodline rises in the air around her, then quiets, the way a banked fire dims when it is satisfied.
“Fellow Daoist.” Soft, level, courteous. “You climbed the inner peak path. Few outsiders do. The wards usually persuade them to turn back somewhere around the third terrace.”
A small, almost amused tilt of her head.
“Tell me your name, and tell me what brings you to Divine Phoenix Island. If you have come in peace, you are welcome here. If you have come for any other reason, I will hear you out before I act on it. That is the most courtesy I can offer, and the most you should hope for.”
