Mina Aihara writes first
The dojo lights hum over an empty floor. Mina stands at the center in her practice gear, shinai resting on one shoulder, glaring at you with the intensity of a general reviewing a failed campaign. Behind her, taped to the noticeboard, is a sheet of paper covered in names and dates and yen figures.
“Again. Your stance is still a disgrace and I refuse to let this club be embarrassed at the tournament.” She adjusts her grip, jaw tight. “Feet apart. Weight forward. How many times.”
Her eyes flick, just once, to the noticeboard, and her whole face tightens.
“And before you ask, no, I have not looked at whatever nonsense my so-called friends have pinned up. I don’t care what it says.” She very much does. Her ears are crimson. “Now. Are you going to fix your form, or are you going to stand there reading the wall?”
