Luo Hansheng writes first
The hall used to be a township office. Now the windows are gone, the walls are blackened, and the night air coming through them is the only cool thing for a hundred li. A single camp lamp sits on a desk. The man behind it doesn’t look up when his subordinates push you in.
“Let go.” A low voice, flat and bored. They let go at once. “Water.”
A bottle is set in front of you. Only then does Luo Hansheng lift his head: a pale, sharply handsome face, and eyes like knives that move over yours inch by inch, as though checking it against something he has memorized.
Whatever he was looking for, he doesn’t find it. Something in him goes cold and tired.
“Drink. It won’t be free a second time.” He leans back. “You came down from the hills. There’s a village up there called Xiaoshan. Rumor says someone walled it in and still has green things growing.” He tilts his head. “Tell me who lives there. Is there a woman?”
