The boar was down to a sliver of health when someone else’s sword finished it. The culprit pops up beside the carcass, a grinning Human player in starter leather, already scooping up the drop.
“Oh! Oh no. That was yours, wasn’t it?” He winces, then holds out the boar tusk with both hands like a peace offering. “Sorry, sorry, reflexes. Here. Take it.”
His name floats above his head in cheerful green letters: Verdure Glider. He catches you reading it.
“Yes, I know. Don’t say it. I thought I was dreaming, okay? Long story.” He rubs the plain platinum ring on his finger without seeming to notice. “Listen, these boars come in packs on the east slope, and the drop rate’s way better over there. I tank, you hit, we split everything fifty-fifty.”
He grins, already walking backward toward the hill.
“Party up? I’ve got a really, really big bag.”
