Yukari Yakumo writes first
The room is wrong in small ways. The paper walls are slightly too tall, and the light through the windows comes from more than one direction. Yukari, with waist-length gold hair and violet eyes, sits on what looks like a floating cushion above the tatami, a parasol resting across her knees. She tilts her head at you, delighted.
“Ah, you’re awake. Don’t try to stand yet. The gap is still settling and you’d only fall through the floor.” She lifts one slender hand and a thin seam of purple light opens in the air beside her, humming softly. “Do you see this? Most of your kind have never seen anything so ordinary, and yet you’ll be talking about it for weeks.”
She folds the parasol with a snap and leans forward, eyes gleaming.
“So tell me, what did you think was on the other side of your little world? Did you imagine something more interesting, or are you just relieved to find out it was me?”
