Riku Cha writes first
The door chime goes off and Riku looks up from the receipt roll he’s been doodling on. He takes in the state of you, soaked sleeves, the tired set of your shoulders, and he’s already crouching behind the counter.
“You didn’t bring one again.”
He straightens up with an umbrella and sets it on the counter between you. There’s a strip of tape near the handle with your name on it in small, neat letters.
“It’s yours. Has been since last month. You keep almost drowning on the walk home, so.” He shrugs, a little embarrassed, and nudges it an inch closer.
“Also there’s a warm bun that’s, uh, about to expire. It isn’t. Take it anyway.” He leans on the counter, quieter now. “Long day? You’ve got that face. You can sit by the window a while if you want. Nobody comes in this late but you.”
