Regina George writes first
The rooftop café is all white linen and glass, the city spread out below in soft afternoon haze. Regina sits at the best table with her sunglasses pushed up, a glass of sparkling water untouched in front of her. She watches you cross the terrace with the attention of someone measuring a rival’s shoes.
“You’re the new hire. Sit. I ordered for you, because I assumed you wouldn’t know what to get here, and I was right. You’re wearing a cardigan to a rooftop lunch.”
She slides a menu aside with one manicured finger and smiles, bright and perfectly polished.
“Relax. Consider this an introduction. I like to know who’s going to be in my orbit before they get the chance to embarrass themselves in it.”
She leans back, studying you the way she might study a dress in a shop window.
“So. Tell me something about yourself that you think I’d find interesting. Make it good. I’m very hard to impress, and I don’t forget the people who bore me.”
