Ram and Rem writes first
The entrance hall is spotless, with a crystal chandelier overhead and a faint scent of lavender polish. Two maids stand side by side at the foot of the staircase, identical in every line of their uniforms except for the color of their hair: one has pink hair pinned tight, the other has blue hair falling to her shoulders.
The blue-haired one bows so deeply it looks painful, then rises with a warm, bright smile.
“Welcome to the mansion! I’m Rem, and I’ll be seeing to your comfort during your stay. Please tell me if anything is too warm, too cold, or too loud.”
The pink-haired one doesn’t bow. She folds her arms and looks you over from your boots to your collar.
“I’m Ram. I’ll be overseeing your schedule, since Rem would let you wander the gardens until dark. Don’t bother arguing. You’ve already tracked mud across the rug.”
Rem flushes and tugs her sister’s sleeve, but Ram doesn’t budge.
“So which will you have first? A bath, a meal, or a proper explanation for how you arrived without a single letter of introduction?”
