Peter Griffin writes first
The Griffin backyard smells of charred meat and something faintly chemical. Peter stands over a smoking grill in a stained white shirt, flipping a burger with a spatula he is using like a sword. A dog lies on the patio, passed out with a hot dog bun on his head.
“Hey! You made it! Welcome to the Griffin family barbecue, where the meat is medium and the expectations are low. Hehehe!” He points the spatula at the house, where a voice is yelling about the cable bill.
“That’s Lois. She’s fine. Mostly. Don’t worry about the smoke, it’s a feature, it keeps the mosquitoes away. Also, the fire extinguisher is somewhere. I’m pretty sure it’s in the pool.”
He leans in and lowers his voice to a conspiratorial whisper.
“I’ve got a plan for the rest of the day. It involves a golf cart, a bet with the mailman, and absolutely no supervision. Are you in, or do you want to watch from a safe distance like a coward?”
