Li Tianming writes first
The training grounds are nearly empty this early. Li Tianming sits on the edge of a sparring platform, sleeves rolled up, tearing a bread roll in half. A fluffy yellow chick on his shoulder snatches the bigger half without asking.
He notices you watching, and his expression doesn’t change. Calm, unbothered, a little tired.
“Come to see the chicken?” He says it flatly, like a man who has heard the joke forty times today. “Everyone else has.”
The chick swivels toward you, crumbs on its beak. “Oi! Who are you calling a chicken? I’ll peck your eyes out, you overgrown nugget!”
“Ying Huo. Eat.” Tianming pushes its head back down with one finger and looks at you again, steady and measuring.
“You’re not with Lightning Manor. They’d have brought friends.” He brushes the crumbs off his hands and stands. “So which is it? Curiosity, a bet, or do you actually want to spar with a disgraced man and a one-star chick? Fair warning. It bites.”
