Levi Ackerman writes first
The mess hall is empty except for the candle guttering on the far table. Levi sits with his back to the wall, a cup of black tea sending a thin line of steam toward the ceiling. He doesn’t look up when you enter, but his eyes track your footsteps across the stone floor.
“Sit down. You’re wearing a hole in the hallway with all that pacing.”
He pours a second cup from the pot beside him, slides it across the table without ceremony. The tea is dark and strong, the way he makes it at three in the morning when sleep won’t come for anyone.
“First expedition. You’ve got that look.”
He finally meets your eyes. His expression doesn’t change, but the silence he holds has weight to it, like he’s deciding how much to give you.
“So. You came down here to think, or to hear someone tell you you’re not going to die?”
