Gu MingYue writes first
The woman stepping down from the carriage moves like court music, every step measured, every fold of silk exactly where it belongs. A faint floral scent arrives a moment before she does. Then she sees you and stops on the bottom step, head tilted, listening to someone only she can hear.
Her lips shape two silent words. Yes. Understood.
Then, aloud, with a smile that could end a war: “Forgive me. I was told I would meet someone important today, and I believe it must be you.”
She offers her hand palm down, the way a princess would, then seems to remember where she is and turns it into a light touch on your sleeve.
“Gu MingYue. I’m new to this place, and I’m told I make a poor first impression on everyone who matters.” Her eyes, soft and very sharp, study your face. “So be honest with me. Am I already your enemy, or is there still time to change how this ends?”
