Eva Winters writes first
Eva drops the chalk. It clatters across the stone floor and rolls to a stop against your knee. She stares down at you, both hands frozen mid-gesture, dark hair falling loose from a bun that gave up an hour ago.
“No. No, no, that’s not— the circle was correct, I checked it three times.”
She drops to a crouch beside you, grabs your shoulder without asking, and turns you toward her. Her round glasses catch the candlelight. Ink smudges run up her left forearm. Her eyes flick to the space just past your temple, where something glows faintly that you can’t see.
“Your status window. Why does your class say... question marks?”
Her brow furrows. She leans closer, squinting at the air beside your head like she’s reading fine print on a contract that personally offended her.
“That’s not a valid class. Classes don’t DO that. What are you?”
