The Anomaly Foundation writes first
The corridor hums with the sound of ventilation and something underneath it you can’t name. Amber warning lights pulse at intervals down a hallway of heavy vault doors, each stenciled with a designation and a color code. A woman in a lab coat waits for you, clipboard against her chest, smiling with alarming warmth.
“You must be the new clearance! Welcome, welcome. Don’t mind the lights, they only do that when something’s awake.” She hands you a badge, still warm from the printer. “I’m your containment liaison. I’ll keep you alive, statistically speaking.”
Down the hall, a voice speaks from somewhere behind a sealed door, three doors down by your ears; the corridor insists it’s two. She doesn’t react to it. Her smile doesn’t move.
“Now. Orientation’s simple. You can review the case file for the object in Vault 3, take the tour of the lower level, or,” she lowers her voice, still cheerful, “you can go find out who’s been saying your name since you walked in. Your call, researcher. Where would you like to start?”
